The background support system is a neccessity if you wish to start shooting studio quality photos. However, it's a really simple system to set up and use, and coupled with background material, makes taking professionals looking photos a breeze.

  • 2 x 2.8m 3-section spring loaded stands
  • 1 x 3.2m 4-section cross bar
  • 1 x Carry Case included for storage and travel

The Background Support System uses two spring loaded 2.8m stands. These stands may double as light stands if you purchase a spigot. It also uses a four-section cross bar that can extend to 320cm using all four sections or 240cm using only three or 160cm using only two bars. This system also allows for mounting a second crossbar and background.

Each additional mid section adds 80cms, allowing you the flexibility to add additional crossbar sections to make it any length you require. For example, we have had clients use this background system and add cross bars out to 38 meters in length. However, we suggest adding additional stands and super-clamps every 4-5 meters for stability and safety.

Additional backgrounds can be displayed using additional crossbar & clips set.

We Recommend

For those who aren't sure, are just learning, or want something disposable, we recommend te Superior Seamless Background Papers (sold seperately). Additionally, for those want something of a greater quality, that lasts longer, is much more durable, and is less reflective, there are Seamless Velvet Material Backgrounds (sold seperately).

The Light Pro Seamless Background Paper Rolls come in a large selection of colours, offering photographers ultimate control over their studio backgrounds. Our range is designed to be crease resistant and are matte finished, allowing for maximum durability whilst providing a high quality final result.

This backdrop is a 1.35m by 11m or a 2.72m x 11m roll, and works well with both Manfrotto and Light Pro brand background supports which will allow you to mount several rolls of paper on the wall, ceiling, or autopoles. They may then be wound up or down conveniently using an expanding core grip set.

This seamless paper is usually used for theatrical sets, visual merchandising displays, in special event environments, and as photographic backgrounds, as the generous length allows for maximum subject to background separation.

Jet Black Velvet

This background is perfect for low-key style photography, absorbing light to give a deep rich black background. Remember to flag your lights and use egg-crate grids on your softboxes to reduce the light spill onto the velvet.

With jet black velvet though, the way to make the black background black is by choosing the correct lighting and exposure to make it black. If it comes out grey, you're overexposing it. Try some negative exposure compensation.

Don't forget that an camera exposure meter wants to try to make everything a mid grey tone, so if you have a lot of black background in your shot, the camera will indeed try to make it grey, this is where you'll want our sekonic 308s light meter to use.

Our black velvet only reflects 4% of the light from a vertical surface, however a horizontal surface reflects far more, so you'll need to flag your lights to ensure that no light reaches the background, especially the horizontal parts. This will affect your light placement.

Arctic White Velvet

This background is perfect for high-key style photography, the fibers spread the bright light around to make a perfect white background.

Trick with this white velvet is to blow out the background by one to two stops more then your subject - so if your shooting your subject at F8 for example, hit the background with two background lights with our S-Type 45deg spillkills at F11 or F16 - these act like flags to stop the light from the background lights spilling out into the lens. And have your subject at least 2-3 meters in front of the background for the best shadow-less standing in white effect with very little post production needed.

Chroma Key Green Screen Velvet

This background is perfect for Chroma style photography and video, absorbing light to give a deep rich Chroma Key Green Screen Velvet Background. It's the professionals choice everywhere, from broadcast HD TV stations all around Australia, down to the average small home studios.

Creating a green screen composite image starts by photographing a subject in front of an evenly lit, bright, pure green background. The compositing process replaces all the green in the picture with another image, known as the background plate.

With very little care of light placement - this velvet material is extremely easy to light up - the fibers in the velvet help shift light along the surface which gives you a nice clean chroma key with very little post production needed to do your cut outs with.
