What are the benefits of the track light system?
Perfect for Offices or Classrooms
The Lightpro 40B LED lights are a great option for your office studio, as each light provides 40W of high-quality bi-colour light (more than the 30B lights that this system originally contained), with an extremely high TLCI value of 95+, meaning your skin tones are going to pop really nicely. The system is best used in a room that has a regular ceiling height of about 2.5-3m, because if it is installed in a ceiling that is too high, the lights won’t be able to hit the background with enough intensity to create an even illumination as you want. This is why it is a great option for spaces such as offices, classrooms or at home.
Flexibility and User Friendliness
The other advantage of these lights is that when they are mounted on the powered track, you can actually move them along these to your desired position, twist and click them into place, and then angle the lights to face wherever you like. This is extremely helpful when you’re trying to light not only your subject nicely and your background evenly, but also in separating your subject from your background with backlight.
Moreover, the great thing about the 40B track light system is that it is extremely user-friendly. You can essentially turn the lights on, set your camera up and start shooting in seconds! They are controlled with a wireless remote, meaning once you’ve set up your lights in the right position, you don’t actually ever need to touch them again! All brightness and colour temperature controls can be done through a simple 2.4Ghz wireless channel system, so once all the lights are synced to the same channel, you’re ready to go. This is a great option if you just need a quick and easy solution that you can turn on and be ready to shoot, without any mucking around to get it looking how you want.
Additional Components - Backdrops and Extra Lighting
The other key component you need to consider with this setup is what backdrop to use. Dragon Image has a wide range of different background systems available, however the one we highly recommend to go with this is the Lightpro Background Frame Systems (they are already included in the complete track light system). The great advantage of this background solution is that it is made from tension fabric that is stretched over a sturdy aluminium frame. They are also double-sided in colour, such as Green/White, Green/Blue, Black/White, so if you need multiple colours for different applications, then you have a wide range available at your disposal.
Finally, as an option to consider, the Lightpro ST-800B Strip LED Lights are a great addition to the system, as having two of these on the floor lighting the background will give you a more even spread of light across the background, and will make keying in post-production a lot easier. The strip design allows an even spread of light vertically, which works nicely in conjunction with the horizontal spread that the track lights are producing. While they aren’t an official part of the kit, and you can get away with just the 40B track lights, they are definitely worth considering if you are looking to improve the quality of your videos and want to add more lights to the setup down the track.
