The Insta360 Pro 2 – 8K 360 Video is now even better!
The Insta360 Pro has proven to be one of the most popular, and affordable, professional 360 cameras of the past year and a half. It’s not been without its limitations however, Insta360 has listened to your feedback, and now the Insta360 Pro 2 is out. How does it compare to the Insta360 Pro?
Live View
It’s hard to miss the obvious the newest addition to the Insta360 Pro, the two Wifi and GPS antennas sticking out from the top of the camera. These make a huge difference for the new 360 monitoring system, which will solve the biggest problem filmmakers faced with the original Insta360 Pro, the ability to up to 300m away from the camera, and still achieve high definition and low latency video previews.
The original Insta360 Pro did have a low-quality video preview over Wifi, however, it would switch off while recording, this upgrade will provide a much high-quality video playback!
Stabilisation
This is a HUGE improvement, the original Insta360 Pro had no stabilization whatsoever, which meant that you should avoid any sort of movement so you didn’t make your audience feel sick when viewing. The Insta360 Pro 2 has its amazing ‘Flowstate’ stabilisation that has been tried and tested with other Insta360 products, such as the Insta360 One And Insta360 One X This will make any moving shot, buttery smooth, just like having it on a gimbal!
Editing 360 Video
Editing 360 Video looks like a big and daunting task, as each lens has its own separate video file. However, Insta360 have teamed up with Adobe to improve the situation, and have come up with a way to use Proxy files. Every time you shoot with the insta360 Pro 2, it creates a lower resolution video of the same video, when you import into Premiere, it will detect the lower resolution version, and use that for editing, and will make changes automatically to the full resolution versions. This will create a faster and more efficient workflow!
Other honorable mentions:
- 3D stereoscopic is now 8K resolution, as the original was 6k.
- Instead of a single SD card slot to store your footage, there are seven card slots. 6 microSD slots (one for each camera) and a regular SD card slot for when stitching in-camera. This means that the Bitrate is up to 120Mbps for each lens, as opposed to 40Mbps on the original.
These six cameras can produce both 2D and 3D 360° footage at resolutions of up to 8K and frame rates of up to 120fps.
- 8K 3D (7680×7680) – 30fps
- 8K 2D (7680×3840)- 60fps
- 6K 3D (6400×6400) – 60fps
- 4K 3D (3840×3840) – 120fps
Price, The original Insta360 Pro is priced at $5249, where the Insta360 Pro 2 is now $6749. Yes, it is more expensive, however with all the added improvements Insta360 have made to the camera, I think the cost is well justified!
